A Caring Campus

Tragic events across the country in recent years have highlighted the dangers posed by violence on college and university campuses. A year ago, President Anthony P. Monaco wrote to the Tufts community about a new program to ensure the continued safety and well-being of students, faculty, staff and visitors.

The Tufts Threat Assessment and Management (TTAM) program was established to identify, evaluate and address potentially threatening situations affecting members of the community. Recognizing and reporting early signs of a potentially dangerous situation enhance the university’s ability to assist community members who may be in distress.

TTAM is now posting fliers and other information in the libraries and dining halls on all three campuses to remind the Tufts community to use this additional resource to learn how to recognize potential threats and the multiple ways to safely (and confidentially, if you choose) report your concerns.

“Tufts is committed to maintaining an environment in which individuals are safe to learn, work and live,” Monaco said in his message last year. “In support of this commitment, we affirm that Tufts will not tolerate violence or threats of violence anywhere on its campuses or in connection with university-sponsored programs.”
