CTSI Seeks Proposals for Pilot Studies Program

The Tufts Clinical and Translational Science Institute (CTSI) Pilot Studies Program is seeking proposals for funding for the coming year, with letters of intent due on Friday, Oct. 10. The program funds innovative, high-impact, translational science projects with a focus on building interdisciplinary, multi-institutional research teams. The teams include investigators from the basic, clinical and/or applied sciences. More than 50 percent of all awards over the last five years were awarded to applicants with bench-to-bedside proposals.

The clinical and translational science awards promote research that translates basic biomedical research from bench to bedside and from bedside to practice, and that impacts medical care and public health policy.

Funding for the 2015 Pilot Studies Program will prioritize methods development and the signature program research areas, including comparative effectiveness research, community engagement and One Health, a concept that embraces the interconnectedness of human, animal and environmental well-being.

Eligible applicants include members of Tufts CTSI’s 39 partner institutions, which span 12 Tufts University schools and centers, 10 affiliated hospitals, three academic partners outside of Tufts, nine community organizations and five industries and nonprofits. Proposals must designate a primary principal investigator with a primary appointment or position at a Tufts CTSI academic, medical or nonprofit research partner institution.
