Jumbo Comes Home

The arrival and unveiling of the new life-size bronze sculpture.

The new life-size bronze sculpture of Jumbo—Tufts’ mascot and the world’s most famous elephant—was created by artist Steven Whyte and commissioned through the generosity of Richard W. Reynolds, class of ‘67.  The statue is nearly 12 feet tall, 18 feet long and weighs 5,000 pounds.   It stands in the new Jumbo’s Garden, made possible through the generosity of M. Richard Asher, class of ‘53, and Sheila S. Asher.
