Alliance with the Atlantic Council will further expand both institutions’ international missions
The Fletcher School and the Atlantic Council, a Washington, D.C., think tank, have formed a new partnership to develop solutions to some of our most pressing global challenges through faculty/scholar exchanges, joint programs and cohosted conferences and workshops, among other ventures.
“The Fletcher School is at the top of its game in cultivating innovative problem solvers who are fluent across disciplines and producing superior scholarship on major international trends and challenges,” says Frederick Kempe, the president and CEO of the Atlantic Council. “This partnership offers both of our organizations the chance to magnify our impact through work that draws upon our shared beliefs in democracy, freedom, trade and openness.”
“This partnership is a perfect synergy of expertise and resources, harnessing the intellectual fire power of both institutions toward solving complex international issues,” says James Stavridis, F83, F84, dean of the Fletcher School and former Supreme Allied Commander at NATO. “Our combined global networks, anchored by headquarters in D.C. and Boston, can more effectively move that knowledge into the public sphere, where it will have the biggest impact.”
The partnership will officially launch at a joint Atlantic Council-Fletcher School event titled “A Strategic Conversation: Interagency Reform, the Greek Crisis and Beyond” on Tuesday, July 14, at 1:30 p.m. at the Brent Scowcroft Center on International Security in Washington. Speakers will include Kempe, Stavridis and former national security advisor Stephen Hadley.
