Leader of University Advancement is positioning Tufts for its next fundraising campaign
Eric Johnson Named Senior Vice President
Eric C. Johnson, vice president for University Advancement, has been named senior vice president. His promotion was approved by the executive committee of the Board of Trustees at its March meeting and will be effective April 1.
Johnson came to Tufts in 1988 as associate director of development for the School of Arts and Sciences and eventually assumed the role of the school’s director of development. He helped lead successful fundraising campaigns to complete the Tisch Library and the Gantcher Family Sports and Convocation Center, and was later promoted to director of principal and leadership gifts and then executive director of development.
Johnson helped develop the President’s Marathon Challenge in 2003, the year he ran his first marathon. Since then, he has stayed active in the program and has run more than 30 marathons, including the World Marathon Majors, a series of six of the largest and most renowned marathons in the world. His Tufts roots go deep: both of his parents are Tufts alumni from the class of 1954.
