Tufts University School of Dental Medicine Earns ADA Qualified Testing Site Designation
Tufts University School of Dental Medicine has been designated an American Dental Association (ADA) Qualified Testing Site, recognizing the school’s ability to conduct research and testing that supports innovation and advances in oral health care.
As an ADA Qualified Testing Site, TUSDM joins a select network of dental institutions that can collaborate with manufacturers and industry partners on research and product evaluation initiatives. The designation reflects TUSDM’s commitment as global leaders in oral healthcare and its longstanding commitment to advancing oral health through innovation, scientific inquiry, and evidence-based dentistry.

The ADA Qualified Testing Site Program helps connect manufacturers with qualified academic and clinical institutions capable of conducting product testing and related research. Under the program, individual research projects are governed through separate agreements between participating organizations and sponsors.
As one of the largest dental schools in the nation and located in the heart of Boston, TUSDM conducts both clinical and laboratory research through its Dental Research Administration (DRA). With access to affiliated phlebotomists, research nurses, and physicians through Tufts Medical Center, TUSDM enables high-quality clinical and laboratory studies across a diverse patient population, all conducted in full compliance with FDA, IRB, HIPAA, and Good Clinical/Laboratory Practice requirements. TUSDM’s Clinical Research Center has 7 fully equipped dental bays, radiograph machines, a private room for consenting, and a drug storage area with temperature monitoring. Also, at TUSDM, the Dr. J. Murray Gavel Center for Restorative Dental Research has a wide variety of equipment for in-vitro research.
Through its diverse patient population, experienced faculty, advanced clinical infrastructure, and strong research programs, TUSDM is well positioned to support studies that advance the science and practice of dentistry.
