Provost Welcomes New Faculty

Annual event offers a chance to get to know Tufts and each other

New faculty chat at the Provost’s Welcome event

At the Provost’s Welcome event at Distler Hall on Sept. 1, faculty new to the university this fall got a chance to meet and mingle and learn more about Tufts. President Anthony P. Monaco and Provost David Harris greeted the new members of the Tufts community, and a faculty panel discussed their experiences teaching and working here. Information on a variety of university services was also available.

“The identity of Tufts as a student-centered research university transcends our schools,” Harris said. “It is important for incoming faculty not only to meet members of the university administration, but also to be welcomed to Tufts in addition to their school and department,” he noted. “These new colleagues will start their Tufts experience knowing peers in other schools, understanding their common perspectives and seeing opportunities for collaboration beyond their department and school.”
