Jumbos nominated in three categories for newspaper sports award program
The Tufts softball team, which completed a perfect 51-0 season with its third consecutive NCAA Division III championship on May 25, is up for three honors in a new sports award program sponsored by the Boston Globe.
The team has been nominated for Globies in three categories:
Coach of the Year: Cheryl Milligan, J98, G01, N12. Her squad is the first NCAA Division III softball team to win three consecutive national crowns.
Top College Athlete: Pitcher Allyson Fournier, A15, finished her remarkable senior season at 35-0, with a 0.20 earned run average and 422 strikeouts in 210.2 innings. She was named the 2015 Honda DIII Athlete of Year by the Collegiate Women Sports Awards presented by Honda. She also won the award in 2013.
Best College Moment: The team’s third straight national title
